Morning Rush
Morning Rush is a poster-based project inspired by the daily commute through Pimlico Underground Station, a station I travelled through each day on my journey to Chelsea College of Arts. The work explores the rhythm, pressure and repetition of urban working life collages from my observations of commuters moving through the station during the morning rush. At the time I was a student watching people on their way to work and reflecting on my own future questioning how I would fit into this cycle after graduation. The posters capture feelings of anticipation, anxiety, and uncertainty while also documenting a shared experience of city life. Installed around the station the work transformed a familiar commuting space into a site for reflection on work, routine and belonging. Looking back after graduating the project has taken on new meaning; although I have since become part of the professional world I once observed from a distance the emotions and questions that emerged during those journeys remain embedded in my memory of the station and the people who passed through it each morning everyday.
